A Little Sparkle

Top: Marshalls  (don't know the brand)/ Pants: Rachel Roy via Macy's / Shoes: Nine West (old, similar here and here) / Sunnies: Forever 21 / Watch: Michael Kors / Necklace: Macy's (don't know the brand) / Bracelets: Vince Camuto & Ebay

This sparkly one has been with me for a long time, and what better excuse to wear it than the holidays, it is so festive, shiny, sparkly... you get it, and it's also a neutral color that allows you to mix it with several items.
I decided to pair it with printed pants and some nude sandals, and let the sequins be the main part of the outfit.

I can't believe 2013 is coming to an end, where did this year go? it flew by so fast so many things happened, and a lot of changes in my life. So cheers to embracing a new year with everything that it shall bring, and to not having a clue as what to wear on NY eve.

Has everyone else already chosen an outfit.....?

DIY Secret Santa

This past weekend we had our Secret Santa reunion with some friends from work, I was really excited because even though we don't get to see each other that often we managed to take some time to eat breakfast together and open some presents.

We used Elfster to sort the names out, if you have never used it you need to check it out, it does all the work for you and allows you to create wishlists and ask anonymous questions to your Secret Santa, so that you have a better idea of what to give him/her... and you can even specify things that you don't need.
It takes the guessing out of gift buying, and there are no chances someone will pull their own name out, since the system also does the sorting.

I decided to do something special for everyone, and here comes the DIY

As most of us have, I had seen this Pinterest idea of the dollar store mug with the sharpie, so I googled to make sure I was going to get the results that I wanted, and I found this awesome post with tips and tricks; needles to say I bought the oil based sharpies, let the mugs dry for 24 hours and put them in the oven when it was cold, baked them at 425 and let them in until it cooled off again.

The mugs came out great (minus the fact that the gold sharpie turned silver), I was able to write a saying that each of my friends uses all the time, I filled them with all sorts of Colombian candy and even added the green mustaches so that we can take some cool pics at the end; we had a great time.

This time with my friends reminded me once more that there are many great things to be thankful for, things that we often take for granted, friends, family, this new blogging adventure, health, and the ability to be able to finish this year on a positive note when there are some that are not as lucky.

A Christmas Color Combo

Sweater: Ralph Lauren via Macy's (recent, but I can't find it online) / Jeans: Old navy / Boots: Jessica Simpson (love this) / Watch: Michael Kors / Wallet: Michael Kors / Necklace: old from ebay

I recently bought this sweater thinking it is the perfect Christmas red, I love this time of the year and it is the perfect excuse to wear a color that is not very popular in my closet, I paired it with some neutrals so that it wouldn't be too overwhelming, and then added a little extra pop with my green wallet, easy to carry around and it gives it a really nice touch.

Today I am really excited, I'm finally going to see the Hobit, after forcing  convincing my friends to catch up and watch the first one, I am really happy to be able to get together with them and watch the second one, specially this week when everyone has so much stuff to do preparing for the holidays.

All in the name of fashion

Shirt: Charlotte Russe (old) / Vest: Ralph Lauren via Macy's / Jeans: American Eagle / Coat: Forever 21 (similar here and here) / Boots: Jessica Simpson (similar here and here) / Bag: local store / Glasses: Tory Burch

Do you own a piece of clothing that is just not comfortable, or makes you feel like you can't breathe, or a pair of shoes that give you blisters every time you wear them? But you just love it so much that you turn a blind eye (on your blistered foot). Well this vest is that piece for me plus a couple of shoes. I bought this vest last year at Macy's on sale, I fell in love with the colors, the texture, the pockets and of course that thick neck, but what I didn't even stop to consider is the fact that this vest is made of wool, and I am allergic to it!!! Go figure.

Every time I wear it I have to make sure I have a thick shirt underneath it, and even better if it is a turtle neck otherwise I will be itchy all day long, but then again who cares, it's all in the name of fashion, it looks good, layers even better and keeps me warm. So I will keep wearing it as long as I can stand the itch.

Pop o' color

Blouse: Forever 21 (old) / Jeans: Old Navy / Shoes: Charlotte Russe / Purse: Steve Madden via Ross (Similar here and here) / Watch: Michael Kors / Bracelets: Urban Peach & Ebay / Necklace: Ebay

I wore this outfit last week when I went out with a friend for some drinks and appetizers, we went to a new place close by, it's a place where they change the menu regularly and use only ingredients from local vendors and markets. It keeps it new and best of all fresh. We had shrimp skewers, fish dip and we shared one of their famous burgers, the food was good but the best thing was the blueberry lemonade we had; it was delicious, just the right amount of sugar, fresh blueberries, and the worse best part is that it didn't have a strong liquor taste, it was just like sipping on plain ol lemonade, just my kind of drink.

The weather was a bit chilly so this long sleeve blouse was perfect, and just to make the outfit a little more interesting I decided to add a pop of color with the orange necklace and heels, perfect for a quick change after work.

A summer hat in mid-winter

Shirt: Express / Jacket: Forever 21 / Jeans: Old Navy / Shoes: Ross / Scarf: Street vendor in San Francisco (exactsimilar) / Purse: Local store (similar here and here) / Bracelets: Aldo (similar here) / Hat: Marshalls / Watch: Michael Kors

Ok, I know is not mid-winter, but considering that beanies and scarfs are a luxury we can't afford too often down here, playing with a summer hat and a light scarf makes me feel just a little bit like it is winter time, and let's not forget the jacket.
I love this hat, it is so versatile, I get to wear it all year round and it pairs perfect with the colors of the scarf, they are a great compliment to a simple white moto jacket. I've had this one in my closet for the longest time waiting for a cool day to finally wear it, and it seems this next couple of days with a little drop in temperature might just allow me to wear this and some other sweaters I love.

My birthday is in February and I always try to go somewhere with my friends, and people always make fun of us, because when most people are headed our way running away from the cold, we are some of the few that are headed North looking for a little winter fun, I guess it kind of makes sense when you live in summer land.

For those of you that are having a full blown winter stay warm and enjoy the holidays.

For the love of boots (on sale)

JeansAmerican Eagle / Sweater: Target (old similar) / Clutch: (Local boutique, similar here) / Necklace: Lucky Brand / Watch: Michael Kors (old) / Bracelets: BCBG & Forever 21 / Boots: BCBGeneration

I haven't always loved a pair of boots but this ones had my name all over them when I saw them at Macy's a couple of years ago, so I figured they would be a good way to start my transition to boots, given down here we only get to wear them a couple of days a year, but nonetheless they are truly a statement piece; one you can style an entire outfit around.

I stalked this beauties for days waiting for them to go on sale, and eventually scored them for around $45, can you believe it, less than half of their original price, you can't beat that, and considering how much wear I have gotten out of them and that they still look great... double score.

I love this ones and taller boots, but haven't been able to find a pair of booties that I dare to wear, my calves are a little muscular so I think booties tend to cut my legs at the wrong place, do any of you have that issue? What kind of booties should I keep my eye out for?
