Bringing Back the Old

I see a lot of bloggers participating in a no buy, or a remix your closet challenge and I am doing my own take on it. Everything from this outfit, with the exception of the pants, has been in my closet for ages, and I have decided that it is time I pay more attention to what I have instead of what I want (this applies to everything in my life).

I've found that I have pieces that can be restyled to match a current trend, not necessarily altered, but just styled differently, and I mean to try. If there is one thing that I have learned from reading blogs is that there is always a new thing, a new color, a new style, no one can really keep up shopping, but you certainly can make use of what you have, and work it girl.

Mix and Match

Skirt: Forever 21 (similar here and here) / Blouse: Charlotte Russe (old) / Clutch: BCBG (loving this and this) / Watch: Michael Kors /  Bracelet: Urban Peach / Necklace: Ebay

If you have seen my posts this past couple of days you would think that yellow is my favorite color, far from it, but I have been on a color kick lately and this hue seems to be making quite an appearance. I have worn it on my pants, and now this blouse, I've had it for a while now, when all this chiffon started becoming popular, and I have to say it has held up pretty well, specially if you take into consideration that I haven't grown up enough yet to do a decent job at sorting my laundry.

Kind of embarrassing but sometimes, with the exception of towels and sheets I only have one pile of laundry, "the dirty" one, regardless of color I mix my clothes in my washer, I only wish I was brave enough to do it more often with what I wear, like with this floral print skirt and this animal print clutch.

Pale Hues

With the awesome weather that we have had this past couple of days, you want to wear something cozy and warm, but also you need to be able to morph into a cooler outfit by mid day since the temperature goes up to 75 with the sun shining at it's best, so this outfit is perfect. The light jacket keeps me warm in the morning and it's not too overwhelming to wear the rest of the day.

By the end of the day if you want to go out for a drink you can just throw a pair of tights to keep you comfy and you are good to go.

Yellow Remix

Pants: Old Navy / Sweater: Macys / Purse: local store (similar here and here) / Boots: Borrowed from my mother / Earrings: Ebay / Watch: Michael Kors / Cuff: Forever 21 (loving this)

As you can see here I like to wear this pants when the temperature drops just a little, they are such a fun color, but I must confess they are not as bright as they look, they look more mustard than bright yellow in real life. But still do the trick.

I can't get over how fast this sparkle holiday season went by, so I wanted to extend the sequin love just a couple more days, and what a better excuse than a sweater for this chilly days, and if it has sequins... well I won;'t complain. The best thing is that it is toned down a little, the pattern is a mix between gold an rose gold, making it very wearable.

Are there any holiday trends you wish you could pull off all year round?

The happy dance

Cardigan: Unknown - Shoes: Franco Sarto (Both via Marshalls) / Dress: BCBGeneration (via Nordstrom rack) / Purse: Ross / Earrings - Bracelet: Charlotte Russe (old) / Watch: Michael Kors / Necklace: E Bay

We took this pictures two days ago when the temperature allowed you to wear skirts, but today I have been doing my happy dance all day (if I knew how maybe a cartwheel would have been fitting) why? because it's in the high 50's, pretty amazing right. It only takes 10 months to get a day lake this but is is so worth it, and the best part, is that it is supposed to stay chilly until Sunday, how is that for perfection?

Ok, back to this dress, I love it, it is so comfortable, the cinching above the waist gives the illusion of a slimmer silhouette, the color, pretty neutral allows you to style it even for work, and the best part, it has pockets. I remember when the big fuss started about dresses and skirts with pockets, and being a jean girl as a teenager I never understood it, but now I know, pockets are awesome, what more can I say.

Infinity Scarf

Shirt and shoes: Forever 21 (old & sold out) / Jeans: American Eagle / Bag: Urban Expressions via Haute Look / Scarf:  Charlotte Russe /  Watch: Michael Kors

Today I'm wearing a very casual outfit and enjoying this scarf, as big as it is, it is a very light material, so it turns more into an accessory than an actual "keep me warm" piece, and the color pattern allows me to style it multiple ways.

For this look I kept it simple with some flats that I scored in the 50% sale at Forever 21, a white tank and  a light blue bag.

The good, the bad & the..... going to the donation pile

Shirt: Express /  Skirt: TJ Maxx /  Clutch, Necklace, Sunnies: Forever 21 /  Bracelet: Charlotte Russe (old) / Earrings: Ebay ( similar here)  / Shoes: Macys

You know when you put an outfit together in your mind and you think it's going to be the outfit of the month, it just looks so amazing you can't wait to wear it and take pictures in it, then you put it on and still think it's pretty amazing, but then you see the pictures and finally understand why some people leave their houses looking the way they do.

Well this is it, don't get me wrong, I still like the outfit a lot, it's comfy and fresh, but.... what was I thinking with those shoes? I've had them for a very long time, and I keep saying I'm going to get rid of them, then I see them in the donation pile and somehow love them again, but after seeing them in this pictures I know for sure where they are going.

It might not be the style, even though a shoe that can't make up it's mind (am I a sandal or a boot?) might have something to do with it, but it can also be the same dilemma I have with booties. I have a muscular calve (God's gift, I swear) and any shoe that cuts me right above the ankle just makes me look wrong, so with a half full glass mind, I am going to donate this shoes and give up trying to make them work for me, sometimes just giving up is the best thing to do.
