Comfy linen

I am such a bad mom, what did I do to Benson on #nationaldogday ? I gave him a bath, yesterday after I got home I brought him outside and gave him a much needed bath, I promised myself I would do it over the weekend but I couldn't get to it, and after bringing him to work on Monday and then out to dinner with some friends I realized what a big mistake that was, he was one smelly dog and I felt so guilty, but the good thing about it was that it poured on us while we were making it to the car, so he would have ended up being bathed twice, so it kind of worked out.

I wore this comfy linen pants and  tee on Monday, since I was spending the whole day with Benson and I can't deal with keeping my outfit in place at the same time that I keep an eye on him, this worked out perfect. They are listed on VS website as "beach" linen pants, but since Florida is determined to be summer like all year  I guess it's OK to wear them out with a tee, am I right?

Stripe a pose (#Giveaway)

There are so many things going on today with this post that I don't even know where to start, first I hope everyone had an awesome weekend, mine was uneventful but I enjoyed it very much.
Second I am proud to announce that I have finally started to experiment with the manual settings of my camera for blog pictures, dipping my toes if I may say, and I am so happy, I thought it was going to be so complicated and it would take me forever, but I have taken the plunge and I will keep experimenting, you can see in these pictures, they were not taken at the magic hour or edited (except for cropping) and I think that the brightness is way better than any of my pictures before, if you already walked down this path please do share any advice you might have, specially if you also use a remote.
Third, today I am the featured blogger on The SITS website, after quite a wait it is finally here, if you are stopping by from their website thank you and welcome, I hope you stay a while.
And last but not least a #Giveaway, so take a look at the pictures, share some advice with me and scroll to the bottom to find out more about this lovely giveaway.

Friday Five

Let me share some of the highlights of my week, or at least stuff worth mentioning and laughing about.

1. Benson being invited to his first ever Beach Blast Party, it is being hosted by another Bulldog rescue, and I would love to see how he does in the sand and ocean, so far he doesn't seem to be to fond of water, but who likes to be outside when it rains, or bathed outside with a hose for the whole world to see. As of right now I don't know if I am allowed to take him (he legally belongs to the rescue, and their dog, their rules) but I will share some pics if we make it.

2. New recipe that I saw on Coffee Beans and Bobby Pins (Original recipe from Oh She Glows) and I had to try, I mean who doesn't looove black beans and avocado? Since I was  missing cilantro I decided to give it a spin, more like South of the border meets Italy, I added some artichoke hearts in olive oil and some sweet corn, and let me tell you, this is such an easy filling, delicious recipe. It is meant to be served as is, but you can also add some romaine to make it a full dish, or keep it simple and use as a side dish. Either way this will be on repeat for weeks to come. (Karli you know you have a corn eating turtle!!!)

Please pardon my non-Foodnetwork worthy picture, but I had already started eating when I thought of taking it.

3. How about this major score at Ross? I found them on sale for $9.99, yes you got it right 10 bucks for this super comfy, snake print slip ons, that if the vacation Gods smile upon me will be coming with me to Harry Potter World in Orlando. I am aware that slip ons are "oh so last season" (for those who have moved on to fall) but this girl here does not care, comfy, pretty and cheap is always in season; specially if they are meant for walking.

4. Another not so blog worthy picture, but good for laughs. Don't you hate it when you think you have such a perfect picture, you know the whole outfit in frame, no cars in the back (don't mind the "fixing the road" photo prop), good light, and then when you blow it up, Surpriiiiiiiiiiiise!!! you closed your eyes. Total and complete disappointment, but hey at least it wasn't like my son/daughter first whatever picture.

5. Last but not least, if you blog, or write any sort of content meant to be read by others, I strongly suggest you refrain from ever using a title like "I need help/Suggestions" all I wanted was some input as to how should I cut my hair but that post has been spammed like crazy (it's the only post I get spam on), I have seriously considered deleting it because it's crazy annoying. For your reading pleasure, and in case your wife/husband has left you I leave you with the spam of the "obasi spell temple"  they leave different names, offer different cures and they all want your "monies". So there you go... should I cut my hair or hire a spell caster??

My life is back!!! After 8 years of marriage, my husband left me and left me with our three kids. I felt like my life was about to end, and was falling apart. I contacted you and after I explained you my problem. In just 24hours, my husband came back to us and show me and my kids much love and apologize for all the pain he have bring to the family. We solved our issues, and we are even happier than before you are the best spell caster priest obasi i really appreciate the love spell you castes for me to get the man back to my life i will keep sharing more testimonies to people about your good work Thank you once again at (obasispelltemple@gmail.com ).incase you are in any problem you can contact this man for help he is always there in his temple to help you solve your problem Contact Email is (obasispelltemple@gmail.com

No time for planning

Sometimes you just don't have a clue what to wear, or you are running late in the morning so an easy comfortable outfit comes super handy. For the most part I like to have an idea of what I'm going to wear, it's a consequence of having class at 6AM everyday for almost 5 years, you really don't have much time in the morning to waste standing in front of your closet making a decision, and worse case if you don't end up liking what you chose it's easier to change one or two things than it is to plan a whole outfit.

For those days when you fail to plan and you are just running errands a pair of comfy sandals (they are even better when you got them at Macy's on clearance for $15), a stretchy maxi skirt and a simple tee fit the bill. Throw in a few accessories, put the hair in a ponytail (no time for styling) and you are ready to go.

Neon pink & Gray

Growing up in Colombia we used to have this set of coloring pencils called Magicolor, they had 2 different sizes, a smaller one that came in a plastic pouch, and a big one that came in a plastic case that bent over and  created a little display where you can put it on your desk and pick colors without them spilling everywhere. The cool thing about them was that they were bi-color, a perfectly paired duo, everyone had them, except for the real artsy kids who got the more expensive and professional prismacolor, since each color was smaller than a regular sized pencil (only half of the length) you obviously used most of them during the school year, so you knew for sure every year you would get a new set, at least that was my case.

I used them until it was almost impossible to sharpen them, all of them except for one that seemed to make it in one piece to the new year, in the end I probably had 4 or 5 of them because I did not like the colors or the combination, funny if you knew that it was gray and pink, given it was more of a flesh colored pink that a full bright neon like my top, but still it was such a great combination, I mean, who doesn't like pink and gray together? they compliment each other so perfectly, you can do muted pink, girly pink, or like I did here a bright neon pink, and as for gray, dark or very light, either way they pair like coffee and cream, perfectly delicious.

It's amazing how things change, if anyone would have told me that the underdog color pencil would end up being one of my favorite combinations of all time, I would have laughed, after all it was the bright yellow and blue pencil that never made it past the first months (We'll blame all the smiling clouds and sunshine I used to draw when I was little, with mountains, you can't really live in Medellin and not love them).

Red & Pink

I have never been a huge fan of red & pink together, there was always something that seemed a bit off, to me they weren't like two shades of the same color that go so well together, they were more like two clashing tones, so I never even gave it a chance, but once I put this skirt and top together I was trying to find a purse that would go with it, and since the top is not like a really girly pink, and the bag is not a full blown passion red, I figured this was my chance to give it a try and see how I like it.

I have to confess I am still not 100% sold on it, don't get me wrong, I like how the outfit came out, but I don't know if this is one combination that deserves a second chance, what do you think? Have you mixed those colors? How did you pair them?
